AI Spreading Coverage in Media and Journalism
AI anchor to deliver news, compose articles of online magazines, and process the information in the field of media and journalism in the next 15 years!
FREMONT, CA: AI has taken over the fourth estate of democracy, with its capabilities instilling awe in its creators as well. The automated news composition and writing without human supervision has become a reality nowadays. Many media and journalism companies use robots to impart information to their users. When seen in the context of media, AI develops new media and augments the operations of the newsroom.
The first robot has recently been tested to anchor a news show while accurately imitating human expressions and behavior. The AI-based robot anchor can simulate a video while reading news. However, there has been extensive criticism of true AI’s capabilities to deliver news, as it cannot feel the depth of the issue.
Three Ways in Which AI is Transforming the Face of Journalism:
• Automatic Report Routine: Journalism reporting can be carried out real-time with the expansion of coverage. Long articles can be summarized into short, bite-sized pieces for digital media platforms.
• Fast Insights: AI can process immediately on real-time data with the background or summary of the story.
• Reducing Barriers to Entry: AI enables journalists to create video content from text and pictures within seconds to avail throw on the subject.
Challenges of AI in Media:
As AI grows deep roots in the massive field of media and journalism, there are certain challenges that it needs to address before fixating. Machine processing works efficiently if a large quantity of data is available, without a sufficient amount of good quality data, the ability of AI becomes redundant. The solution is to create an algorithm to mine data to develop a structured set of data from the extracted raw data.
AI is expensive for smaller media houses, so they cannot afford to create original AI-generated content, resulting in the formation of a gap in the industry. However, large publishers have the resources to develop rich original articles from the AI tool. Despite the challenges, many developers have been optimistic about the technology’s implementation in media. Although it may be a source of profit for some companies, for others it is used to gain worldwide readerships. It is predicted that AI will be generating 90 percent of the internet articles within the next 15 years.
